Take a step back

Pem (UK)

"amazing soulful, ethereal, almost-folk kind of music"

Bio provided by artist:
Pem is the outpouring of multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter Emily Perry. Blending her hauntingly husky vibrato voice with enchanting arrangements, she crafts a sound world where smokey music hall serenades meet ethereal alt-pop. Inspired by Joni Mitchell and Elliot Smith, the powerful intimacy of her songwriting transports her listeners into a haze of vulnerable introspection.

In 2022 Pem unveiled her debut E.P Songs About Hands. Written during her intensive psychotherapy training, it expresses conflicts with memory, connection and disassociation. With confessional lyrics, swooping melodies and wistful field sounds, it offers space to reflect on what it means to touch and be touched.

Pem moved to Bristol in 2023 and immediately carved out a name for herself with her spellbinding and silencing live performances. She was long-listed for Glastonbury Emerging Talent as well as Greenman Rising and landed support slots with The Last Dinner Party. That same year she signed with Fascination Street Records and worked with producer Ali Chant (Sorry, Katy J Pearson) to create her most profound project yet. An unflinchingly honest expression of grief, longing and fear written just weeks after her father’s death that will be released in summer 2024. Her spellbinding new single ‘awe’ has already garnered significant attention and with a Lexington headline on the 14th of June and more dates to be announced soon, Pem is poised for a breakout year.
